You can lodge your complaint at EPFIGMS portal of the EPF. This is a dedicated website to accept all type of EPF related complaints online. You can use this portal instead of visiting the PF office. The EPFO promises to solve your grievance within 30 days. However, to use this system, you must have the UAN. It has become compulsory since 2016.
EPFIGMS: All in One Online Complaints System
The online mechanism of EPF complaints redressal is similar to the Public Grievance portal of the Indian Government. Even you can use that portal to reach EPFIGMS. These are the features of this system.
EPFIGMS is an Integrated System
The full form of EPFIGMS is the ‘EPF integrated Grievance management system’. It works as one platform to book complaint to any of the regional PF offices. This system is connected to all the regional PF offices. Thus, a complaint registered at this portal is immediately communicated to the concerned PF office.
Employee and Employer both can Use EPFIGMS
This platform is available for everyone related to the EPF scheme. Thus, you can lodge a complaint if you are one of the following participants.

8 Types of Complaints
The EPFIGMS classifies EPF related complaints in 8categories. You have to choose any of the following 8 categories while filing the Grievance form.
- Final Settlement or EPF Withdrawal
- Transfer of EPF Balance
- Scheme Certificate. You get it for pension scheme
- Settlement of Pension
- Issue of PF Balance and Passbook
- Payment of Insurance Benefit. It is related to EDLI scheme
- Cheque Returned or Misplaced
How to Use EPFIGMS
The URL of this portal is epfigms.gov.in. In this portal, you would see many options related to complaints. These options are ‘register grievance’, Send Reminder, view Status, change password and FAQ.
To lodge a complaint, Go to the ‘Register Grievance’.
In the next page, you would see a detailed form to fill. This form has 3 sections.
- EPF Details
- Personal Details
- Grievance Details
- You have to choose whether you are an employee, employer, pensioner or other. In the next field, you have to fill the EPF account number. If you don’t remember the establishment code, you can find out from the given link.
- You have to also choose the concerned EPF office. It is an important step as your grievance would be forwarded to the chosen EPF office.
- Now, Fill the name of your company and address
In this section, you have to enter name, address, email and mobile number. Fill the correct details to get updates.
In the third section. You have to select the complaint category. There are 8 categories. I have mentioned them above.
You are also required to type your complaints. You can use 500 characters to lodge the complaint.
In this section, you can also upload a document if required. It would substantiate your complaint.
After the filling grievance form, enter the captcha and submit it. Now you would see the confirmation page. In this page, there would be a registration number. You should note it down.
You will also see the name and phone number of the officer who would be attending the complaint. These details would be also mailed to you.
Check Status Online
After submitting the complaint, you can check the status online. A link is given on the portal. To perform this task, you need the registration number of the complaint. The password is also required if you have set it.
If your grievance redressal is taking more than 2 weeks, you can send a reminder to the mentioned officer. You can do it online. A link is given at EPFIGMS portal itself.
To use this facility, you have to enter the complaint registration number. You may be required to submit password if you have set it.
Use Social Pages to Escalate the Issue
If you did not get the satisfactory answer or no answer at all. You can escalate the complaint. Nowadays. the EPFO has become active on Facebook and Twitter.
